Yael Shy, the author of "What Now? Meditation for Your Twenties and Beyond," says she came to meditation from "a lot of suffering" as a student at New York University in 2001 -- the same year the World Trade Center towers fell near her New York City dorm during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Today, Shy helps college students tackle stress, anger and FOMO (fear of missing out) around academics, relationships, sex and social media in her role as the senior director of NYU Global Spiritual Life and the founder and director of MindfulNYU. Has anyone listened to every single episode? At the end of the day, the best part of this whole experience is you -- the audience. There's no show without you. I'm so grateful you've listened and stayed with me on this journey. …

"If you don’t try hard enough at something, people could knock you down for it.” I recently had a friend tell me I needed to do an interview with someone special. I’m always hesitant on suggestions, but my friend has done thousands of interviews and he said in his top five was Danica Patrick. I felt I had to give her a shot and I’m so glad I did. She and I are on the same wavelength. We’re both into sports, consider ourselves to be spiritual people, and believe so much in the power of the mind. Danica has a strong presence you can feel the moment she walks into the room and yet she is still one of the sweetest and most thought-provoking people I’ve met. She’s had so many insightful things to say. For those of you who don’t know her, Danica Patrick …
Unbeknownst to most, animal agriculture is the number one culprit when it comes to almost every single man-made environmental ill on the planet. Untenable amounts of land, water and feed are required to raise the number of animals necessary to meet demand. Creating more greenhouse gas emissions than the entire transportation sector combined, our voracious appetite for meat and dairy products has produced the largest mass species extinction since the disappearance of the dinosaurs. Meanwhile, the primary driver of ocean acidification, water table pollution, rainforest devastation and a litany of other environmental abominations can be tracked to one primary source: our broken system of food production. Without a doubt, it's a system that's destroying human health, irreparably damaging the planet we call home and creating unspeakable suffering in the process. If we want to survive as a species, we need a new way forward. In …

"If the last day of my life came, and people were sitting around me, I would say ‘Smile, because I made it to the other side.’” - Ray Lewis I constantly think about the fact that the only definite thing in this world is what we leave behind. Money comes and goes, belongings eventually break or get thrown out, but what people say about you will never change. This got me thinking about an amazing episode I did with Ray Lewis. Ray has been leaving a legacy not just in football, but to the world. On this 5 Minute Friday, we hear some of the most inspirational words about how anyone can leave a legacy and fulfilled life behind when they go on Episode 591. Get more from Lewis!
